Andrew Weil

Dr. Andrew Weil is the founder and director of the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine at the University of Arizona, and is recognized as the founder of integrative medicine. He established the Center in 1994 to help bridge conventional and healing-oriented medicine.

Under his direction, the Center works in three areas: education, clinical care, and research. Its flagship programs for medical professionals are the Fellowship in Integrative Medicine and Integrative Medicine in Residency. It also offers a certificate program in integrative health and lifestyle, along with a Wellness & Lifestyle Series open to health professionals, practitioners, and anyone interested in evidence-based integrative wellness. The Center's primary care clinic in Tucson offers integrative care options under one roof.

Dr. Weil played a key role in developing the Fellowship curriculum and continues to shape it alongside faculty. He takes part in the Fellowship's three in-person experiential weeks in Arizona, leading teaching sessions and spending time with the fellows. His anti-inflammatory diet is among the topics the Center's health resources and courses cover.
