Michele George

Michele George is a voice specialist in private practice, and also a singer and actor. She has worked with thousands of men and women in private sessions, group sessions and large seminars, helping them find and express the most profound levels of their being through the voice. Her tapes Drink from the Well and River of Song, River of Life have reached many more. She describes herself, in simplest terms, as a therapeutic voice specialist, and says she has come to a profound recognition of the power and importance of the voice on her own journey.

Michele came to this work gradually, after almost 20 years as an actress, singer and director. She spent 10 years with Peter Brook's International Centre for Theatre Research in Paris, performing in Orghast at Persepolis, African Journey and Conference of the Birds, and travelling across four continents. In Toronto, where she is based, she has performed in works including Mother Courage, The War in Heaven and Hermes Trismegistus, and has directed a wide range of plays. She has sung in solo performances at Toronto's Music Gallery and with musicians including Barre Phillips, Derek Bailey, John Surman and Bobby McFerrin.

Through her own Jungian analysis and her musical life, her attention turned to personal empowerment. Since 1980 she has designed and led workshops and trained others, including on the faculty of New York's Open Center and Omega Center. For many years she worked with Jungian analyst Marion Woodman, and she was sound weaver at seminars with Marion and Robert Bly.
