Sarah Kleiner is a yoga and meditation teacher based in Atlanta, Georgia. She has practiced and taught for more than a decade, and her work centers on changing how people use and view yoga and meditation. She wants both to be accessible to everyone, especially people affected by trauma, stress and PTSD. She describes meditation as "bicep curls for the brain."
Sarah found yoga and meditation during pregnancy, as a way to relieve stress. When her daughter experienced a major regression and was diagnosed with autism at 15 months, the practices became the way she coped with a life she had not planned for. She holds advanced certifications in Pranayama (breath work), Meditation and Mindfulness, and in healing trauma, PTSD, depression and anxiety through yoga, mindfulness and meditation.
In 2018 she created Oxygen Mask Meditation, which began in March of that year as a private Facebook group for parents and caregivers of children with special needs. It offers free guided meditations, gentle yoga videos, a podcast, workshops and one-on-one coaching. Its aim is to help special needs parents and caregivers find healthy ways to cope with chronic stress and reach emotional equanimity. The name comes from the familiar advice to put your own oxygen mask on first, which can be hard to apply in practice.
Her YouTube channel pairs guided meditations with video blogs. Sarah brings in the human side of parenting a child with special needs as she guides people toward relaxation and healing.
